with Emma Gardner, cns, ldn

Hi, I'm Emma! I'm a Certified Nutrition Specialist and licensed nutritionist in Maryland and DC.
I believe in the power of food to support healing, foster connection, and cultivate joy.
At the same time, food is complicated. I help folks work through the nuances that come with food to reach their health goals, feel better, and spend more energy on the things (or with the people) that bring them joy.
I am currently accepting new clients!

*I am informed by HAES®, intuitive eating, and harm reduction frameworks in my nutrition practice. I honor the bodily autonomy of my clients and provide nutrition education that respects lived experience and incorporates practical strategies to support long-term wellness and longevity. For clients desiring weight loss or weight gain, we'll prioritize behaviors causing the least amount of harm with relevant education.
Approach
TLDR: Food is more than fuel, and you're not a walking to-do list.
Growing up surrounded by women who were navigating a diet culture that had been acting against them for years, food was always... complicated.I enjoyed it, so did they.
I usually wanted more of it, so did they. They would say, "I can't eat... because it goes straight to my..."
I would interpret, "I should never eat... because that could happen to me."They would say, "I skip lunch, so I can eat..."
I would interpret, "I don't deserve to enjoy... if I eat according to my needs."They would say, "I could never wear/do/experience... because my body..."
I would interpret, "I must control my body, if I want to wear/do/experience..."
yeah... it's a wrap on that.
I support clients in reclaiming the connection between body, food history, and community. Whether you're balancing family, healing your relationship with food, navigating a new diagnosis, or just plain tired of dealing with food... I offer personalized, compassionate nutrition coaching designed for navigating the unique intersections of identity, health, and life transitions.

I am here for you.
My work is rooted in social justice, with an understanding that our health is deeply shaped by the world around us, not just our willpower (🙄). I don't subscribe to the idea of food as just fuel—it can be cultural, therapeutic, nostalgic, chaos, and connection. So, together, let's build a nourishing, sustainable relationship with food that honors your lived experience.
